Time Moves Like Water

0 reads

I can't escape the memory of your laughter,
it plays on repeat when the silence gets too loud.
I'm begging time to show me what comes after,
but all I see is us beneath that cloud.

Your voice breathes life into my shadows,
it pulls me from the dark when I can't see.
You turn my pain into those gentle meadows,
where I can rest from who I used to be.

Time flies, but god, it's hard to say goodbye,
like autumn leaves that cling before they fall.
I numb the ache with songs that make me cry,
I close my eyes and feel you through it all.

Your scent still lingers in my old sweater,
it holds me close on nights I come undone.
Your cup still stains the edge of my old letter,
I read it like a prayer to bring back the sun.

Time flies, but still you're tangled in my chest,
like winter snow that melts and leaves the soil wet
I chase the hurt away with what sounds best,
lift me higher, let music pay my debt.

The melody remembers what I can't hold your warmth,
your light, the stories that we told.
I play it all on loop until I'm whole,
but healing means I'm losing my control.

Time moves like water through my open hands,
and you slip through like grains of golden sand.
Something so precious shouldn't fade like this,
but time steals everything, even your kiss.
